PERTH PROJECTS

The Dominican Sisters of Western Australia play an active role in supporting various ministries in the Archdiocese of Perth.

Aboriginal Catholic Ministry

The Dominican Sisters of WA began their Educational mission in the Diocese of Geraldton in 1899. SInce that time, the SIsters have welcomed the opportunity to be involved in offering various ministries to the Aboriginal community - primary and secondary education, catechesis and Sacramental preparation through the Motor Mission, providing "Bushie Schools" for children from remote regions of the Diocese of Geraldton, and providing teaching staff at St Mary's Agricultural College, Tardun, and Wandalgu Catholic Primary School, Tardun.

In recent times, Sister Mary Ryan OP has continued our support through her ministry as Director of Centrecare, Geraldton....

Margaret Scharf OP is currently involved in Music and Liturgical ministry for the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry of the Archdiocese of Perth, which includes supporting the Sunday community Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church, Embleton, and regular connection with the students at Clontarf Aboriginal College.
